Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro: display resolution and front camera of future Android flagships
At the presentation, Google shared only some key specifications for each phone; we will learn the rest only in October.
Pixel 6 Pro
Pixel 6 Pro will feature a 6.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The screen is slightly curved at the edges, transitioning into shiny polished aluminum rails on the sides. It has three cameras on the rear panel: a wide-angle main camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a folded telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom. Google does not share camera specs except that the main wide-angle sensor captures 150 percent more light. As for the front camera — it is expected that the Pixel 6 Pro will be able to shoot 4K video.
Pixel 6
The regular Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch FHD+ screen with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Its screen is perfectly flat, with matte rails. The rear camera is identical but without the telephoto lens.
Flagship design
The design is undoubtedly different from all the smartphones we know. Apple, Samsung, and Xiaomi place their cameras in the top left corner. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro models will have an entire “camera bar” on the back cover that spans the entire width of the phone. The colors of the flagships will differ slightly.
Tensor SoC processor
Although the phones will differ in memory, both will feature the new Tensor SoC, Titan M2 security chip, and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The most important part of the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro is the new Tensor SoC processor. “It took us several years, but we have finally created a technology platform that we believe is truly important.” Overall, computing power on Android phones is considered inferior to Apple with its A-Series chips. Has Google potentially created a more competitive chip that would set its products apart? So far, the company has not shared performance tests, but Google representatives noted that the new processor will be a market leader. Rumors suggest that Samsung was involved in developing the new chip, with special attention paid to AI optimization.
